Best Sleeping Positions to Prevent Back Pain & Neck Pain
How’d you sleep last night? Did you know that a very common cause of back pain is bad sleeping positions. Here are some things you can do to get a better night’s rest and alleviate back pain.
- Sleep On Your Side With a Pillow In Between Your Knees: If there is any gap between your waist and the mattress, consider putting a blanket or smaller pillow there for support. The pillow between your knees is key to help align your hips, pelvis and spine.
- Sleep Curled into Fetal Position: Tuck your knees toward your chest and consider switching from side to side to balance out.
- Sleep on Your Stomach With a Pillow Underneath You: Place the pillow under your lower abdomen. You can also place a pillow under your head for comfort.
- Sleep on Your Back With a Pillow Under Your Knees: With a neutral spine, place the pillow under your lower back. With your weight evenly distributed, you have less strain on your pressure points.
